Requirements
- Has at least two years of experience as a legal assistant or law clerk
- Holds a law degree (or equivalent) from their home country
- At least 2 years of experience as a paralegal in a U.S. immigration law firm
- Is bilingual in English (C1 or higher) and Spanish, both spoken and written
- Can work independently on multiple projects with minimal supervision
- Strong knowledge of U.S. immigration procedures, visa types, and forms (family-based, humanitarian, and employment-based immigration)
- Permanently resides in Latin America
- Owns a reliable laptop (Windows or Mac, 2017 or newer) with a stable internet connection
Responsibilities
- Draft and prepare immigration-related legal documents, including visa petitions, affidavits, appeals, and motions
- Submit immigration petitions and applications to relevant agencies, meeting all deadlines
- Conduct legal research on immigration laws, regulations, and case precedents
- Communicate with clients in English and Spanish, addressing inquiries and providing updates
- Maintain organized case files and accurate documentation for immigration cases
- Prepare and review immigration forms for visas and other processes
- Support attorneys with administrative tasks related to immigration cases
- Track visa deadlines and case progress, keeping attorneys informed
Preferred Qualifications
- Is proficient in legal software like Clio or MyCase (preferred)
- Familiarity with immigration-specific databases and software
