Responsibilities

  • Provide project management rigor to large/complex and/or politically sensitive policy and practice strategic initiatives
  • Collaborate with program to develop well-defined proposals, project charters, and other planning documents
  • Work with project leads to develop a project organization structure with clearly defined roles and responsibilities
  • Manage, document and control project(s) to achieve each project’s goals, scope, budget, schedule, quality, and other applicable performance standards
  • Regularly monitor, document and report on project progress against the plan
  • Plan, lead and participate in project and steering committee meetings
  • Document changes in scope, budget or schedule. Coordinate sign-offs and communicate changes with working groups/committees and project team
  • Ensure that risks are proactively identified with mitigation strategies developed
  • Resolve and/or appropriately escalate project issues
  • Complete proper hand-over of project outputs including all relevant project documentation to project team
  • Engage project stakeholders by eliciting their opinion and sharing project updates regularly
  • Identify project milestones, critical success factors, and resource requirements
  • Contribute to project deliverables where needed, e.g. research, survey design, drafting reports, etc. to ensure quality and timely delivery of deliverables

Description of Services

The Child Care Policy Branch, in the Jobs, Economy and Trade (JET) Ministry, is seeking a project management specialist to provide project management expertise on a series of priority child care initiatives.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
