Summary

Join Tide in their mission to empower small businesses and help them save time and money as a Special Projects Manager for Operations.

Requirements

  • Have a B-Tech and MBA degree
  • Have extensive experience (minimum 5-8 years) and a demonstrable track record of delivering complex, cross-functional projects or programmes in technology organisations
  • Have led programmes ranging between tech/product and operational focus, and be happy to apply your experience where it’s needed - we only have a small number of programmes and our programme managers need to adapt to their demands
  • Be comfortable with ambiguity - we will build frameworks and processes where we need to, but what’s important is delivery and that we move at pace. We may not know exactly how best to manage a given programme. You won’t be spoon-fed and will need to find out what’s needed and where you need to play to be most effective
  • Have excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
  • Be able to work with the most junior and the most senior people at Tide - and will need to be equally adept at building relationships with both. You have experience managing external stakeholders as well
  • Have superlative communication skills, both face-to-face and on paper, and you believe in over-investing in communication
  • Have experience working in agile delivery environments. We aren’t looking to impose waterfall approaches on our teams and you'll be able to find the right ways of working with them to deliver results (and this may differ across programmes)
  • Be intensely data-driven, you use it to inform your own decisions and to help others to make theirs. You use data to test hypotheses (and take actions or course correct where necessary) and to provide transparency and support arguments rather than relying on anecdotal evidence. You use tools such as PowerBI or Looker to do this (and spreadsheets where you have to!)
  • Work with your sleeves rolled up. This isn’t a PMO role, we don’t need project plan jockeys or deliverable chasers - you’ll be deep in the detail and getting your hands dirty
  • Be a master influencer - none of the people you will need will work for you (but everyone will want to succeed!)

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with top management to understand business objectives, identify opportunities, and develop strategic plans
  • Lead discussions and facilitate decision-making processes by providing insightful analysis and recommendations
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with organisational goals
  • Conduct thorough research and data analysis to support strategic initiatives and drive informed decision-making
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, tracking progress and identifying potential risks or roadblocks
  • Serve as a liaison between senior management and various stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and alignment of priorities
  • Utilise exceptional Excel skills to analyse large datasets, generate reports, and create insightful visualisations
  • Create high-quality presentations and reports using PowerPoint, distilling complex information into clear and concise formats for senior leadership
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies within the organisation
  • Close the loop on action items and decisions made by senior management, ensuring follow-up and accountability across all levels of the organisation
  • Ensure that product delivery roadmaps from contributing areas and operational readiness activities are aligned to meet programme objectives
  • Identify and resolve or escalate cross-area dependencies, blockers, and issues
  • Create and chair Steering Groups to drive senior decision making and issue resolution

  • Manage any programme-specific resources not aligned to existing functions
  • Manage programme budgets and monitor business outcomes
  • Close out programmes, including the transition of activities to BAU/production
