Remote Staff Accountant

Requirements

• Strong understanding of accounting principles, with experience in Canadian accounting practices, preferably including GST and HST
• Proficiency with accounting software, such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, and NetSuite; familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics is an asset
• Ability to manage multiple clients, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines
• Excellent communication skills with a focus on proactive updates and issue escalation
• Detail-oriented, with effective time management skills and the ability to work backwards from deadlines

Responsibilities

• Perform full-cycle accounting tasks, including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), month-end close, and financial statement preparation (P&L, balance sheet)
• Manage payroll processing and ensure compliance with Canadian sales taxes (GST/HST)
• Reconcile accounts, complete bank reconciliations by the 10th of each month, and maintain accurate financial data
• Communicate with clients to set expectations, provide updates, and manage deadlines effectively
• Collaborate internally via Microsoft Teams and participate in weekly team meetings to discuss client needs and project progress
• Utilize various accounting software, including QuickBooks Online, Xero, and NetSuite, tailored to client requirements
• Employ project management tools (Financial Sense, Keeper) to track tasks and ensure timely completion
