Summary
Join Packt's growing team in India as a Sales Executive, focusing on institutional sales to academic institutions and universities. You will be responsible for identifying new opportunities, conducting meetings and demos, maintaining relationships with institutional stakeholders, and closing deals. This role requires experience in academic or STM publishing sales and a strong understanding of the academic sales cycle. We are also open to fresh graduates in Science or Computer Science with a strong interest in publishing and sales. The Sales Executive will report to the Regional Business Head and will need to travel extensively. This position offers a competitive salary and a range of benefits.
Requirements
- Graduate in Science or Computer Science preferred
- Strong rapport with institutional stakeholders like librarians, faculty, and department heads
- Should have experience working with technical institutions (IITs, NITs, central/state universities) for selling STM and academic content
- Should have a thorough understanding of the academic sales process, including library procurement, licensing models, and tender-based selling
- Should be well-versed with academic stakeholder engagement β including librarians, faculty members, deans, and procurement officers
- Should be able to effectively present and demonstrate Packt academic products to academic committees and decision-makers
- Should have hands-on experience with CRM tools, academic databases, and digital platforms for lead generation, tracking, and reporting
- Willingness to travel extensively for meetings and events
- Self-driven, with strong relationship-building skills and an enterprising mindset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence in presentations
- Results-oriented, dependable, and comfortable working in a performance-driven culture
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with universities, libraries, consortia, and academic institutions in your region
- Take full ownership of the assigned geography, building a healthy pipeline of opportunities
- Present and demonstrate Packtβs content platform to stakeholders and decision-makers
- Generate new leads through research, fieldwork, and referrals; actively follow up on centrally provided inquiries
- Coordinate with university faculty and librarians to gather book/course recommendations and identify needs
- Manage the full sales process including negotiations, proposals, and renewals
- Conduct regular in-person campus visits to engage key stakeholders
- Collect and document feedback, support product-market fit, and contribute to new initiatives
- Stay informed about STM (Scientific, Technical, and Medical) trends, library acquisition cycles, and content procurement processes
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth onboarding and post-sale support
