Senior 3D Character Artist

Summary

Join Voodoo, a leading mobile game publisher, as a fully remote 3D Character Designer based within +/- 2h of Barcelona! You will be responsible for creating stylized, low-poly character models, rigging and animating them for real-time performance in Unity. This role requires 3+ years of experience in 3D character design for video games, proficiency in low-poly modeling and optimization, and expertise in rigging and animation. You'll collaborate closely with other teams to ensure seamless integration and consistent quality. The ideal candidate will also have experience with stylized characters and shader creation in Unity.

Requirements

• 3+ Years of experience as a 3D Character Designer in the video game industry or a related field
• Proficiency in low-poly modeling and optimization techniques
• Rigging and character animation experience in games
• Deep understanding of anatomy, stylized characters, and dynamism
• Proficiency with Unity for integrating and testing character models and animations
• Software Expertise: Blender, Maya, (or equivalent modeling tools), Substance Painter, and Unity

Responsibilities

• Create stylized, low-poly character models from concept art, focusing on efficient topology for real-time performance
• Set up character rigs for animation, ensuring proper articulation and natural movement
• Animate characters with fluid, responsive movements to bring them to life in-game
• Optimize character models and animations for Unity, ensuring they meet performance benchmarks without sacrificing visual fidelity
• Work closely with concept artists, animators, and developers to ensure seamless asset integration and maintain consistent style and quality

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in creating Stylized Characters
• Familiarity with shader creation for character materials in Unity
• Understanding of mobile game performance constraints and optimization techniques
