Requirements

  • Strong understanding of accrual vs. cash basis accounting
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, G-Suite (Google Sheets, Google Slides), Microsoft PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneDrive
  • Prior experience in healthcare cost report preparation
  • Strong analytical skills for revenue and contractual analysis
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to remain seated for extended periods
  • Frequent talking and hearing for communication with staff
  • Normal visual acuity for reviewing financial documents
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare accounting

Responsibilities

  • Provide financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data and preparing reports
  • Prepare journal entries for assets, liabilities, and capital on an accrual basis
  • Document and substantiate financial transactions through proper auditing and adherence to accounting procedures
  • Prepare and analyze balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports
  • Maintain accounting controls by developing and recommending policies and procedures
  • Reconcile and analyze account information, including bank reconciliations, fixed assets, prepaid accounts, and payroll accruals
  • Maintain financial security through strict compliance with internal controls
  • Conduct revenue and contractual analysis, as well as EMR data mining and analytics
  • Answer accounting-related inquiries by researching and interpreting financial data
  • Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial information
  • Stay updated with industry practices through professional development, networking, and training
  • Collaborate with the accounting team to achieve departmental goals
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Sage, Meditech, and/or ECW is a plus
