Summary
Join Gemini, a leading global crypto and Web3 platform, as a Senior Accountant. This role involves preparing and reviewing financial reports, working with various teams to ensure accurate financial statement representation, and supporting automation and general ledger upgrades. You will also collaborate with external stakeholders, including auditors and tax advisors. The position requires in-person work twice a week in either Seattle, WA, New York City, NY, or Miami, FL. This is a key role in Gemini's continued growth and public company readiness efforts. The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting skills, experience in a regulated industry, and a proven ability to manage multiple projects.
Requirements
- An undergraduate degree in accounting, economics, finance or related field
- 4+ years work experience in accounting
- CPA (or equivalent license)
- Experience with SEC financial reporting
- Willingness and commitment to learn and go deep; crypto experience is a plus but not required
- Experience in a regulated industry preferably financial services will be advantageous
- Experience managing numerous competing deliverables
- An understanding of consolidation, fair value, and CECL accounting
- Proven track record of meeting deadlines and ownership of complex areas
- Ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced and changing financial environment with the demonstrated capacity for excellent judgment, communication, and negotiation skills
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and relationship building abilities
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and disclosures related to receivables, accruals, derivatives and other digital asset activity
- Prepare monthly financial reporting packages / material for the consumption of the CAO and CFO
- Work with the business and regulatory teams to ensure transactions and new developments are appropriately recorded and presented in the financial statements
- Analyze fluctuations and trends in financial statement line items and provide insightful commentary
- Document and implement accounting policies in-line with the latest GAAP and SEC Reg S-X requirements for use by team members around the globe
- Support general automation and general ledger upgrade efforts taking into consideration multiple stakeholder needs
- Support external relationships with audit professionals, consultants, and tax advisors, inclusive of networking and building contingency plans for possible future transactions and related accounting permutations
- Assist with the preparation of footnote disclosures
- Support outsourcing financial activities to Gemini affiliates and any sub-outsourcing to other third party service providers, ensuring services are provided in accordance with the respective regulatory requirements and internal policies, processes and procedures and agreed service level agreements
- Contribute to special projects, including system upgrades, process automation, or technical accounting assessments
Preferred Qualifications
