Summary

Join Granicus's dynamic Accounting team as a motivated leader overseeing month-end close tasks, revenue reviews, and financial reporting. You will prepare reports for executive leadership and the Board of Directors, collaborate with the Revenue Manager, and maintain accurate revenue recognition data in NetSuite. This role involves managing projects related to acquisitions, providing audit support, and ensuring compliance with GAAP standards. The ideal candidate possesses a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, a CPA (preferred), and at least 4 years of revenue accounting experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in revenue accounting, with a focus on month-end close and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in NetSuite or similar ERP systems
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and complex formulas
  • Strong understanding of ASC 606 and its application in revenue recognition
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience with process improvement and automation in accounting functions
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and execute comprehensive month-end close tasks, including but not limited to, posting revenue and deferred revenue journal entries
  • Conduct detailed monthly revenue reviews, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP revenue accounting standards
  • Prepare and present sophisticated revenue reports for the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and Board of Directors, providing insightful analysis and recommendations
  • Prepare and reconcile deferred revenue and unbilled receivable balance sheets, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Collaborate with the Revenue Manager to address and resolve business line-specific revenue inquiries, providing expert guidance and support
  • Maintain and ensure the accuracy of revenue recognition data within NetSuite, implementing best practices for data management
  • Facilitate month-end close activities and various accounting tasks related to the integration of acquired companies, ensuring seamless transitions
  • Lead and assist with multiple ad hoc projects, particularly those related to acquisitions, demonstrating strong project management skills
  • Provide comprehensive documentation and support for annual external audits, ensuring compliance and readiness
  • Perform and oversee monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring all discrepancies are promptly addressed
  • Maintain and apply in-depth knowledge of GAAP revenue accounting standards, ensuring all revenue-related activities comply with regulatory requirements
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of revenue accounting operations
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Legal, and Operations, to ensure alignment on revenue recognition policies and practices
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development
  • Stay current with changes in accounting standards and regulations, ensuring the company’s revenue recognition practices remain compliant
  • Participate in the evaluation and implementation of new accounting systems and tools to improve revenue accounting processes
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to revenue recognition, ensuring robust internal controls are in place
  • Responsible for Granicus information security by appropriately preserving the Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability (CIA) of Granicus information assets in accordance with the company's information security program
  • Responsible for ensuring the data privacy of our employees and customers, their data, as well as taking all required privacy training in a timely manner, in accordance with company policies

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with mergers and acquisitions is a plus
