Summary
Join Mashgin, a successful and innovative point-of-sale company, as a Senior Accountant and play a key role in managing the expense side of accounting. You will be responsible for handling vendor bills, credit card entries, expense entries, and ensuring accurate record-keeping. This intermediate position offers the opportunity to learn and grow in a fast-paced startup environment. You will own the general ledger, balance sheet reconciliations, and sales tax process. You will also participate in monthly close processes, audits, and system improvements. This role also includes overseeing procure-to-pay and payroll processes.
Requirements
- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance or related discipline with 7+ years of experience applying accounting and financial best-practices in a public or private company environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ERPs
- Strong commitment to accuracy, consistency and ability to problem solve and come up with creative solutions with various tools
Responsibilities
- Owning the general ledger, ensuring timely recording and accuracy of every balance on the general ledger. Key areas include revenue recognition, deferred revenue, sales tax, and fixed assets at customer sites
- Owning the balance sheet reconciliations and subledgers, ensuring a full understanding of the detail amounts and the validity and accuracy of the amounts that make up the balances
- Owning the sales tax process, ensuring accurate sales tax calculations and timely filings. Additionally, you will also be owning the selection and implementation of the appropriate sales tax system to automate sales tax calculation and filing
- Participating in the monthly close process, ensuring adherence to the close schedule
- Participating in audits, including annual financial audits, sales tax, and workers comp
- Participating in the design and implementation of a mid tier financial system
- Participating in the continuous effort for processes and systems improvements
- Overseeing the procure to pay process
- Owning the payroll process, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with hardware strongly desired
- Prior experience at a high growth and fast paced company strongly desired
- 3+ years of management experience
