Summary

Join Underdog, the fastest-growing sports gaming company, as a Senior Accounting Associate. You will manage day-to-day accounting for expense-related accounts, review and validate vendor invoices, and optimize system workflows. Collaborate with Marketing, Legal, and Compliance teams on complex contracts and accounting-related legal matters. Lead aspects of the monthly close process, including reconciliations and journal entries. Support broader finance initiatives like budgeting and forecasting. Contribute to system and process enhancements related to multi-entity accounting and consolidations. Develop a working knowledge of tax reporting obligations. This role is crucial for scaling accounting operations to meet the demands of a growing business.

Requirements

  • CPA certification required
  • 4+ years of accounting experience, preferably with a big 4 background
  • Strong audit/assurance foundation
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a fast-moving, evolving company
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day accounting for expense-related accounts, including platforms such as Ramp and Zip
  • Review and validate vendor invoices, route them for proper approval, and ensure timely and accurate payment
  • Configure and optimize system approval workflows and reporting tools to improve efficiency
  • Partner closely with the Marketing team to review and interpret complex affiliate contracts
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for vendors regarding payments and issue resolution
  • Lead core areas of the monthly close process, including accrued expenses, partner payments, credit and bank reconciliations, prepaid expenses, and accounts receivable
  • Prepare journal entries and ensure accurate departmental coding across Sage, Ramp, and Zip systems
  • Support broader finance initiatives, including budgeting, forecasting, and departmental reporting
  • Contribute to system and process enhancements related to multi-entity accounting and consolidations
  • Develop a working knowledge of tax reporting obligations such as 1099 filings, tax provisions, and income taxes
  • Collaborate with Legal and Compliance to identify and address any accounting-owned registration or filing requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using expense systems such as Zip or Ramp
  • Prior experience working with marketing partnership teams on affiliate spend
  • Familiarity with contract term analysis
