Summary

The job is for a Senior Architect in Xero's 'Catalyst Engineering' team. The role involves guiding the evolution of Xero's Cloud Platforms and working closely with Product Managers and Engineering leaders. The ideal candidate should have experience as a Senior Architect, knowledge of AWS and one of GCP or Azure, understanding of synchronous and asynchronous integration, ability to translate business strategy into actionable platform roadmaps, and good communication skills.

Requirements

  • Experience as a Senior Architect in a platform engineering environment
  • Guided at least one large organisation’s cloud journey from idea to a mature, scalable, business-critical offering running large numbers of workloads across a breadth of services
  • Know AWS and one of GCP or Azure really well and have created poly/multi-cloud environments across them
  • Understand synchronous and asynchronous integration of complex data driven systems using APIs and events
  • Ability to translate between high-level business strategy to an actionable platform roadmap
  • Working knowledge of agile software development methodologies
  • Understand how to address information security, risk management, data privacy and compliance in the cloud
  • Enjoy mentoring and up-skilling other architects and engineers
  • Great listening, problem-solving, communication, negotiation and coaching skills

  • Guide the evolution of Xero’s Cloud Platforms
  • Work closely with Product Managers and Engineering leaders to shape the technical capabilities of platforms and toolchains
