Join Natera's Bioinformatics Research Team as a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist focused on Epigenomics in Oncology. You will design, implement, and validate algorithms for analyzing large-scale cancer data. Collaboration with biologists and clinical scientists is key to solving challenging problems. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in algorithm development, genomics, sequencing data processing, and machine learning. Experience with AWS, WDL/Snakemake, Docker, and CI/CD technologies is required. Requirements
- PhD in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field with a strong focus on cancer epi/genomics
- Track-record of developing state-of-the-art computational methods or highly cited publications
- Highly experienced in algorithm development, data analysis, NGS troubleshooting, and machine learning
- Familiar with public databases such as TCGA, COSMIC, or OncoKB
- Experience in Python
- Experience using Linux command-line tools and writing shell scripts
- Ability to perform hypothesis driven research, visualize findings and summarize results in oral and written form
- High scientific rigor and eager to teach and learn about new computational methods and biology
- Rapidly design, prototype, and test many possible hypotheses in a high-ambiguity environment, making use of both research and production judgment. Report results in a scientifically-oriented way
- Create and deliver best practice recommendations, tutorials, blog posts, sample code, and presentations adapted to research, technical, and executive stakeholders. Support adoption of these to impact multiple teams
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and validate innovative algorithms and statistical methods to analyze large-scale data sets related to cancer detection
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and scientific excellence
- Work closely with molecular biologists and clinical scientists to solve challenging problems
- Contribute to experimental design and ensure data integrity and quality control
- Experience of developing and deploying automation microservices utilizing AWS, WDL/Snakemake, Docker and CI/CD technologies
- Collaboration Experience with Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) peers to research, design, develop, and evaluate cutting-edge generative AI algorithms to address oncology questions
