Summary

The job is for a DevOps engineer to build, manage, and automate a SaaS web analytics platform on AWS. The position is fully remote with a minimum of 4 hours overlapping with New Zealand per week.

Requirements

  • 5+ years commercial experience working with the AWS cloud
  • Proficient with modern IaC tooling (e.g., Terraform, Cloud Formation, Pulumi)
  • Proficient in at least 1 popular scripting languages (e.g., Python, Typescript/Javascript)
  • Proficient in container technologies (e.g., Docker, Docker Compose, Kubernetes)
  • Proficient in Linux systems and shell scripting
  • Proficient in declarative modern CI/CD patterns (e.g., GitHub Action, Bitbucket Pipeline, GitLab CI/CD)
  • Proficient with modern software engineering workflows (e.g., Git, pull request, code review)
  • Understanding of network topologies, high availability principles
  • Understanding of monitoring concepts (e.g., metrics, dimensions, log analysis)
  • Strong analytical skills and a passion for it to understand complex business logic
  • Great communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Willing to provide on-call support

Responsibilities

  • Build, manage and automate our SaaS web analytics platform on AWS
  • Ensure availability, performance, security, and scalability of the platform
  • Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as code, monitoring and alerting systems
  • Support software development, product and customer support teams to achieve business outcomes
  • Take ownership of technical issues, and work with the team to resolve more advanced issues when necessary
  • Respond to application and security incidents via a rotating On-Call schedule (two thirds of the time, including nights and weekends)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of PHP
  • MySQL server and SQL query optimisation
