Senior Counsel

Summary

Join Strike, a fintech company revolutionizing global finance with its Bitcoin app, and become a key member of its small legal team. This cross-functional role requires a blend of product, regulatory, and commercial legal counsel. You will work closely with various internal teams, providing legal guidance throughout the product lifecycle. The position demands experience in financial services, product counseling, and/or in-house tech company experience. Requirements

• Be a Bitcoin maxi and have a strong interest in Strike
• Have 4+ years of legal experience
• Have a JD from a top law school (or foreign equivalent) and be currently licensed in a U.S. state or relevant foreign jurisdiction
• Possess excellent written and oral communication skills, with a strong track record of effectively communicating with internal and external stakeholders
• Have keen attention to detail and organization
• Have experience in drafting and negotiating agreements, and counseling product teams in launching financial services or technology products
• Possess strong project management, analytical, and legal research skills
• Be comfortable with constructive friction, risk-adjusted analysis, and creative problem solving

Responsibilities

• Integrate with a range of internal teams, including the Executive, Product, Business, Engineering and Data Science, Compliance, CX, Comms, and Marketing teams, to provide full product counseling through the product lifecycle – from ideation to product launch, on-going operation, and sunsetting
• Navigate a complex regulatory and commercial landscape and advise the company on how to design and launch innovative products and services in various jurisdictions
• Lead negotiations around key commercial agreements from a variety of domains
• Manage and optimize engagement with outside counsel in the U.S. and international jurisdictions
• Research novel legal questions and have the ability to get up to speed on issues that may fall outside of your natural area of expertise; when outside counsel is needed, manage and optimize engagement and distill guidance into clear action steps for internal clients
• Help drive Strike’s regulatory engagement strategy, manage incoming regulatory matters, and assist in Strike’s process of obtaining additional licensing

Preferred Qualifications

• Have at least one of the following work experiences: Top law firm or state or federal clerkships
• Have at least one of the following work experiences: Financial regulator at the state or federal level
• Have at least one of the following work experiences: In-house legal teams at technology companies (ideally fintech)
• Have experience with: Cryptocurrency or payments space
• Have experience with: International expansion
• Have experience with: Privacy
• Have experience with: Partnering with outside counsel in international contexts
• Have experience with: Commercial relationships relevant to fintech
