Summary

Join Vacasa as a Sr. Data Scientist and become a key member of our team driving the Data Science direction of key initiatives, including dynamic pricing, recommendations, and Generative AI. You will be responsible for collecting and analyzing large datasets to train models that drive business decisions. This role requires a combination of statistical analysis, data mining, and machine learning techniques. As a senior member, you will lead initiatives from start to finish, working with stakeholders and deploying models. This 100% remote position offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, expertise in Python and SQL, and experience with large datasets and cloud infrastructure. Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in a data-related field (Analytics, BI, Software Engineering) with at least three years of experience as a data scientist
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in machine learning algorithms such as logistic regression, decision trees, and neural networks
  • Experience using Jupyter Notebooks, pandas, and ML libraries such as scikit-learn
  • Expert in Python 3 and SQL
  • Superlative communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
  • Reliable internet connection, must meet a minimum of 50 mbps
  • Indoor and telework environment
  • Structure of the position: fixed schedule
  • Availability for standard workweek (Monday - Friday)

Responsibilities

  • Collect, clean, and feature engineer large datasets from various sources
  • Analyze and interpret data to identify trends and insights that can inform business decisions
  • Train predictive models that optimize decisions across all departments
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate the performance of models in production
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest data science techniques and tools
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deploy models according to product requirements
  • Interact with stakeholders to solicit requirements for projects
  • Communicate findings, and deliver results to stakeholders on time and within budget
  • Determine when models are ready for production, including validation and testing
  • Prototype your models and get them ready for productionization with minimal lift from Engineers to fully productionize
  • Lead projects, and mentor junior team members
  • Other duties, as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coding, architecture and deployment experience
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure such as GCP, Azure or AWS. Direct experience with AWS
  • Strong experience working with large datasets and tools such as EMR or Spark
  • Familiarity with Docker or other container systems
