Join Raintree Systems as a Senior Design System Architect and play a pivotal role in establishing and evolving our global design system for rehabilitation and physical therapy software. You will define the strategic vision, architect and maintain the design system, collaborate with UX designers and front-end developers, create comprehensive documentation, and champion adoption across the organization. This fully remote position requires 4+ years of UX/UI or Product Design experience with a strong focus on design standards in complex products. You will need advanced Figma expertise, proficiency in design system management tools, and a strong understanding of front-end development technologies and accessibility standards. Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in a UX/UI or Product Design role, with a strong focus on establishing design standards across complex products (B2B, SaaS products)
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating proven experience in building and maintaining design systems from the ground up or significantly contributing to the evolution of an existing system
  • Advanced expertise with Figma and component-based design workflows (including Libraries and Variants)
  • Proficiency in design system management tools such as Zeroheight, Storybook, or similar platforms
  • Excellent knowledge of UI component libraries (experience with Radix or other open source libraries is a significant plus)
  • Strong understanding of front-end development technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, or similar frameworks) and their implications for design system implementation
  • Strong understanding of human-centered design principles and accessibility standards
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams and collaborating with product and engineering
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), with the ability to clearly articulate design rationale and technical considerations to both technical and non-technical audiences

Responsibilities

  • Design System Vision & Strategy: Help define the strategic vision and roadmap for our global design system, ensuring it aligns with business goals, user needs, and technical feasibility
  • Design System Development: Architect, document, and maintain our design system, encompassing visual style guides (typography, color palettes, iconography, spacing), UI component libraries, interaction patterns, and UX best practices
  • Component Library Expansion & Governance: Collaborate with UX designers and front-end developers to define, design, and document new UI components, ensuring they are accessible, performant, and reusable. Establish clear guidelines for component usage and governance for contribution to the library
  • Library Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation and UX guidelines for design components and patterns, ensuring clear instructions for internal teams and stakeholders
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product designers, product managers, and front-end engineers to understand requirements, provide design system guidance, and ensure seamless integration of the design system into the development process
  • Design System Advocacy & Education: Champion the adoption and understanding of the design system across the organization through clear communication, training, and documentation
  • Continuous Improvement: Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of the design system, gather feedback from users and stakeholders, and iterate on its components and documentation to ensure it remains relevant and valuable
  • Staying Current: Stay abreast of the latest trends and best practices in design systems, UI development, and accessibility

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working within healthcare IT systems such as EHR/EMRs, patient portals, or clinical documentation
  • Previous experience in a front-end/UI development role
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations or other healthcare privacy and security requirements
  • Contributions to open-source design systems or UI libraries
