Senior Engineer II - Design System

Summary

Join HashiCorp's Design Systems team as a Sr. Engineer II and contribute to the development and maintenance of the Helios Design System, built using Ember.js. You will collaborate with engineers and designers to improve the system's accessibility and extensibility. Responsibilities include maintaining the monorepo, serving as an expert resource, modernizing the build pipeline, and contributing to documentation and code. You will also lead initiatives, define roadmaps, and collaborate on cross-team projects. The role requires expertise in Ember.js and experience with design systems. Success will be measured by your contributions to the system's health, adoption, and the team's overall success.

Requirements

Responsibilities

• Maintain and mature a design system built using Ember.js
• Collaborate with engineers and designers to understand their needs and develop necessary tools and infrastructure
• Use your skills with Ember.js to support Helios’ adoption in our products
• Take ownership of the health and long-term stability of the Helios monorepo
• Serve as an expert resource for other UI Engineers at the company
• Lead an initiative to modernize the design system’s build pipeline to use Embroider
• Gain familiarity with and work directly on the products' codebases using the design system to support the correct adoption of the components provided by the design system
• Contribute to a project building documentation, code, and design for a shared library built on top of Helios
• Fully participate and contribute to all the team activities and processes: daily syncs, weekly planning sessions, weekly office hours, and bi-weekly retrospectives
• Author RFCs proposing new processes or changes to the design system
• Serve as a reliable resource for other design and engineering teams on the best way to build accessible products using our design system
• Lead efforts to define vision, goals, and roadmaps for the medium and long-term health of the Helios codebase
• Lead complex cross-team projects connected to the broader design system vision
