Join the Python Software Foundation (PSF) as a Senior Financial Analyst/Accountant! This part-time (20-35 hours/week), remote position supports the PSF's Accounting Team in managing various financial aspects of the organization. - General ledger software (QuickBooks or QuickBooks Online preferred)
- Tax form systems, such as tax1099.com
- MS Excel and Google Docs

- Experience with online banking, credit card processors, and various payment methods
Responsibilities
- Identify manual or repetitive accounting processes and develop automation solutions to improve efficiency
- Design, implement, and maintain automated workflows using tools such as databases, upload/download, integrations between systems, etc
- Analyze large volumes of financial data to ensure accuracy, identify trends, and support business decision-making
- Maintain financial databases and support the integrity, quality, and security of accounting data
- Generate custom financial reports and dashboards using tools like Power BI, Tableau, or advanced Excel functions
- Document processes, workflows, and controls around automation solutions to ensure audit readiness
- Record accounts payable, collect and record vendor tax forms, set up payments in various systems in compliance with company guidelines
- Act as main point of contact for debit and credit cards for staff and volunteers; includes setting up new cards, closing down cards, ensuring receipt collection, and recording transactions in the general ledger
- Moderate donations email list and highlight action items, record incoming payments in general ledger and donations subledger, and monitor mail for donations
- Monitor, set up, and/or update PSF records in vendor, donor, and sponsor portals
- Prepare monthly and annual bank and account reconciliations
- Willingness to travel for 5-7 days to the annual PyCon conference and assist with on-site transactions for our travel grants program, annual fundraising auction, and other events. May optionally travel another week or two per year (i.e. company staff retreat, team staff retreat)
- Enter annual 1099 and 1042-S forms into tax filing system
- Automate preparation and distribution of monthly/quarterly/annual/ad hoc financial statements for internal and external stakeholders
- Ad hoc projects as necessary
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 to 8 years of accounting experience is preferred
- Experience with supporting audit requests is a plus
- Familiarity with non-profit fund accounting and/or fiscal sponsorship a plus
