Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Total Rewards, including compensation, benefits, wellness, and equity program management including 3+ years in a people management role with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams
  • Experience at both large-scale public companies and smaller-scale start-up private environments required
  • Deep expertise in compensation strategy, salary benchmarking, pay equity, and global benefits programs
  • Experience supporting international populations and operating in a remote-first, fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills with the ability to present insights and influence executive stakeholders
  • Hands-on experience with equity administration tools and practices in private and/or public companies
  • Working knowledge of employment and tax regulations that impact compensation and benefits globally
  • Exceptional communication and project management skills, with a passion for improving the employee experience

Responsibilities

  • Design, refine, and lead Bird’s global Total Rewards strategy to support talent attraction, motivation, and retention
  • Align compensation, equity, benefits, and wellness programs with business goals and our People-first culture
  • Partner with Finance, Legal, and business leaders to ensure strategic alignment and budgetary compliance
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and strategic advisor to the VP, People and Executive team on all rewards matters
  • Oversee and continuously improve global health, wellness, and perks programs to ensure competitiveness, compliance, and employee engagement
  • Partner with the Manager, Global Benefits & Wellness on vendor management, renewals, benchmarking, and plan optimization
  • Identify opportunities to innovate and scale wellbeing initiatives in a distributed, remote-first environment
  • Lead global compensation initiatives including market mapping, job architecture, and benchmarking for new and evolving roles using tools like Radford, Pave, and internal benchmarking frameworks
  • Own and drive the compensation process for Bird’s Annual Performance Review Cycle (Bird Performance Review / BPR), including merit and promotion planning, in partnership with Finance and People Business Partners
  • Manage salary bands, job leveling, and internal pay equity reviews, ensuring a scalable and transparent approach to compensation
  • Partner with Finance and Legal to ensure all programs meet local compliance requirements and align with Bird’s compensation philosophy
  • Leverage systems such as BambooHR (HRIS), Radford, Pave, Google Suite, Zendesk, and Greenhouse to support workflow, decision-making, and documentation
  • Own the end-to-end administration and strategy of compensation, benefits & equity programs, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with business goals
  • Lead equity planning cycles, including refreshes and off-cycle grants, and partner with Legal and Finance on program design and execution
  • Build tools, documentation, and employee education materials to increase understanding and transparency of programs across levels
  • Support executive compensation planning and Board-level reporting on total rewards and equity strategy
  • Use data and analytics to monitor the effectiveness of rewards programs and make recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Develop and maintain documentation, policies, and processes that ensure program governance, scalability, and compliance
  • Support internal audits, due diligence, and compensation-related disclosures as needed
  • Manage and develop a high-performing total rewards team with a culture of service, ownership, and continuous learning
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with Finance, Legal, Talent Acquisition, and People Business Partners
  • Act as a thought partner and internal consultant to People team colleagues and business leaders across the organization
