Requirements
- A Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in electrical engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, or related quantitative discipline is strongly preferred
- A minimum of 7 years’ experience in economic modeling or data analyses is required
- Strong understanding of power systems and Locational Marginal Pricing (LMP) fundamentals is required
- Proven problem solving and negotiation skills
- Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in applying established transmission techniques, procedures, or standards
- Demonstrated proficiency with Excel and MS Office Suite
- The successful candidate will use various information sources and will know how to procure an assortment of data sources for analysis, presentations, or use in production simulation modeling and economic analysis
- Requires advanced communication skills to insure clear communication internally & externally
- Strong relationship development skills and the ability to work successfully with peers and other teams across the company
- The ability to function in a team environment and demonstrate a strong motivation to succeed in a very fast-paced environment

- The employee must work within the budget constraints as authorized by the Executive Team, while successfully following all policies and procedures related to employees’ fiscal responsibilities in doing the day-to-day job
Responsibilities
- Running PROMOD/DAYZER analysis for assessing congestion/curtailment risks for operating and development projects
- Maintaining and developing models and databases and assumptions files for congestion and curtailment modeling and other studies
- The analyst will build and maintain models, data files, processes, and systems for historical and forward-looking congestion analyses, and for development of medium term and long-term congestion forecasts
- The analyst will also undertake fundamental, or market research as needed for special projects/initiatives such as solar and storage integration or other transmission/congestion related assessments, or to identify future market trends and transmission or interconnection process changes that can impact curtailment and congestion risks
- Tracks transmission expansion plans and any changes to the Grid, market rules and their impacts on market prices, capacity, and competitiveness of a site
- Create tools to conduct the transmission analyses
- Conduct historical and forward-looking congestion analyses for SBE’s operating and development assets
- Manage and maintain Promod databases and assumptions files
- Provide market and fundamental research and analysis for basis and power curve modeling, as well as special studies (e.g., battery integration)
- Majority of the time is spent in the office environment with frequent use of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, PROMOD, FTR/CRR and hedging tools, PowerWorld, or other software as required, using statistical and optimization software programs, and using general office equipment
- Minor time is spent in the field meeting with regional developers, asset managers or attending conferences, or meeting with vendors and suppliers as appropriate
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated competency in other modeling, statistical analysis, and/or optimization software highly desired
- Experience in detailed economic modeling of transmission networks, thermal and renewable generators using PROMOD, DAYZER, or Plexos is strongly preferred
- Basic knowledge/experience running power flows either in PSS/E, TARA or PSLF or Power World
- Working knowledge of CAISO, ERCOT & ,MISO wholesale electricity markets highly desired
- Basic knowledge of Python and SQL is desired
- Expertise in power system analysis software packages PSS/E, PSLF, PowerWorld Simulator is strongly preferred
