Summary
Join Cedar as a Senior Product & Regulatory Counsel and provide expert legal advice on healthcare, payments, and data privacy. Collaborate with product and business teams to mitigate legal risks and develop efficient processes. Contribute to improving product counseling, review marketing materials, and assist with contract negotiations. This role requires a JD, 5+ years of relevant experience, and a strong understanding of healthcare regulations and technology. Requirements
- JD Degree from an accredited law school and license in good standing to practice law in at least one state bar
- 5+ years relevant legal experience at a top law firm and/or in-house in healthcare/healthtech, collections and/or payments. Previous healthcare regulatory and tech experience is required
- Strong foundation in product counseling, marketing, and technology applications, as well as the capacity and desire to be a generalist and learn new areas of law and legal skills quickly
- Ability to hear and answer questions that aren't asked and translate technical and regulatory concerns into answers and guidance understandable to non-lawyers
- Keen business and legal judgment
- Self-starter, who exhibits a βcan doβ attitude and excels at building solid, collaborative working relationships across teams
Responsibilities
- Provide end-to-end product counseling from initial product development stages
- Collaborate with product and business teams to identify potential legal risks and provide risk-mitigation counseling
- Contribute to the development of processes to improve the product counseling function
- Be attentive to upcoming changes in the industry and help Cedar determine how to react to them
- Collaborate with other Legal & Compliance Team members and stakeholders on product, regulatory & compliance issues
- Assist implementation teams to integrate the platform with large customer and vendor systems
- Review marketing and other communications relating to products
- Assist with negotiation of product and regulatory aspects of client, vendor and partnership agreements
- Contribute as a team player to help further the status of the Legal & Compliance department
Preferred Qualifications
- Interest in the unique privacy and regulatory considerations applicable to healthcare and payments, including as they relate to the use of AI and machine learning in product- and operations-related processes
- Experience working for a company offering platform services to large healthcare entities
