Summary
Join Wavelo, a SaaS company within Tucows, as a Senior Product Designer for a 12-14 month contract (with potential extension) covering parental leave. You will mentor junior designers, collaborate with various teams (product, engineering, content, data), and design high-quality user experiences for mobile apps, dashboards, and TV interfaces. This role requires strong UX/UI skills, experience with design tools (Figma preferred), and a proven track record of shipping successful products. Requirements
- A leader with proven experience collaborating with product managers, engineers, data, content and other designers in an agile work environment
- Passionate for user-centered design with superb visual design skills to go through the entire process from problem definition to solution
- Highly proficient with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch etc. (we use Figma)
- High proficiency in UX research methods, including user interviews, surveys, usability testing, and data analysis, with the ability to translate findings into actionable design insights
- Self-starter with the ability to independently establish and implement UX research process, driving the development of research frameworks and ensuring alignment with broader design and business goals
- A proven track record of designing and shipping modern, world-class products for mobile native and web
- Experience mentoring and supporting other product designers
- Empathic and caring about accessibility, diversity and inclusive design
- Openness to different ideas and point of views and a general sense of curiosity
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- Understanding of HTML and CSS
- 6+ years work experience in UX/UI/Product design
Responsibilities
- Mentor and support other designers and ensure a consistent experience across all touch points
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, content, data and other designers to build thoughtful and informed products
- Provide effective solutions to complex problems by analyzing and understanding business requirements and user needs
- Design high-quality, modern, scalable and accessible interfaces, user experiences and products
- Conduct user research and testing to identify key needs, pain points, and opportunities for product improvement, using insights to guide design decision and enhance user experiences
- Contribute to the development and establishment of a comprehensive UX research practice within the company, including defining processes, tools, and best practices to drive user-centered design across teams
- Document UI standards and help maintain and enhance our design systems
- Create wireframes, mockups, interfaces, flows and prototypes to test with users and communicate them cross-functionally
- Own the entire design process from early research and ideation to problem definition and designing the solution (and iterating on it)
- Facilitate design sprints, brainstorming sessions, white-boarding and other activities to align with the larger team and come up with innovative ideas and solutions
- Bring your passion for technology and user centered design to ship best-in-class mobile native apps, dashboards, flows, interfaces and experiences
- Work closely with Project managers to implement feedback from customers

- The base salary range for this position is $103,050 to $114,500. Range shown in $CAD for Canadian residents. Other countries will differ. Range may vary on a number of factors including, but not limited to: location, experience and qualifications
