Summary
Join Samsara's Public Policy and Government Relations team as a Senior Manager to shape policy strategies in European markets. You will develop and execute policy strategies, build relationships with policymakers and stakeholders, and track relevant legislation. Responsibilities include assisting with filings and comments for legislative bodies, managing consultants, collaborating with sales teams, and creating content. This remote position, based in the UK, requires a Bachelor's degree, 8+ years of relevant experience, and strong communication and advocacy skills. Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required, postgraduate degree in a relevant field preferred
- 8+ years of relevant public policy, political, and/or government experience and an in-depth understanding of the policymaking process and government relations in European markets
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in government affairs and advocacy in international markets (e.g., legislative wins, relationships with officials, involvement with third parties, etc.)
- Skilled at persuasively and diplomatically advocating complex policy positions before a wide variety of audiences
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to concisely summarize policy issues and advocacy points
- Experience managing multiple high-priority projects simultaneously in a fast-moving, dynamic environment, both collaborating with a team and working independently
- Ability to thrive in new situations, learn quickly, jump in, and responsibly manage one’s own time and deliverables in a remote work environment
- Teammate with a strong willingness to pitch in as necessary
- Highly organized, flexible, and detailed-oriented
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
Responsibilities
- Help develop and execute policy strategies that advance Samsara’s business goals in key European markets
- Identify and track proposed bills, regulations, and policy positions across the European Union and the UK that are relevant to Samsara, assessing their potential impact and developing strategies for engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with relevant policymakers, regulatory officials, trade associations, and other key external stakeholders, tracking your level of engagement to ensure impact in your work
- Assist with filings, comments, testimony, and other input for legislative committees and regulatory bodies
- Manage outside consultants to expand our reach in key markets
- Work closely with the sales teams to help affect the adoption and usage of Samsara’s technologies
- Collaborate with other Samsarians in the creation of content (collateral, blog posts, etc.) that articulate Samsara’s vision and values through its products and services, in a manner that is compelling to policymakers
- Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices
Preferred Qualifications
- Passion for and knowledge of emerging technology and related public policy issues
- Experience in European or UK government, in advocacy, or in-house on issues facing highly regulated industries in the UK or Europe
- Knowledge and experience with privacy, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, transportation, or other public policy issues related to data-driven industries
- Knowledge of future of work, labor, and workforce development policy issues
- Proven ability to address unexpected challenges in new areas and get up to speed on unfamiliar subject matter quickly
- The ability to effectively translate government-to-business and business-to-government issues
- The ability to issue spot, identifying potential opportunities and challenges before they materialize
