Summary

Join Airalo, the world’s first eSIM store, as a Senior QA Automation Engineer and help revolutionize the telecom industry. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and executing automated tests for our Network Experience (NX) business unit, which manages eSIMs across their lifecycle. You will collaborate with Product Managers, Developers, and Designers to ensure high-quality product releases. The ideal candidate possesses 5+ years of QA experience, expertise in automation frameworks, and a deep understanding of software testing methodologies. This role focuses on backend systems.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of dedicated experience in Quality Assurance (QA)
  • Deep understanding of software testing theory, methodologies, and best practices
  • Experience in manual testing across the full range of user story acceptance criteria and test cases
  • Expertise in automated functional, API, and UI testing
  • Ability to provide realistic estimations for tasks of varying types and sizes
  • Solid understanding of the HTTP protocol & WebSocket communication
  • Understanding of distributed applications and client-server architectures
  • Proficient in at least one programming language (TypeScript, Java, Python, or similar)
  • Experience with test automation frameworks (Playwright, Axios, Cucumber, Cypress, Selenium, RestAssured, or similar)
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools (Github Actions, etc.)
  • Expertise in Git and branching strategies
  • Experience with short-lived testing environments
  • Ability to troubleshoot and debug complex issues (infrastructure, test environments, CI/CD workflows)
  • Ability to make a logical decomposition of application functionality
  • Knowledge of SQL/NoSQL
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English

Responsibilities

  • Designing, implementing, and executing manual and automated functional, regression, and performance tests
  • Designing and implementing a testing strategy for the Backend API Platform
  • Testing mobile network connectivity by interacting with mobile devices
  • Running Functional and End-to-End tests and making sure that functionalities are in conformance with the user stories, acceptance criteria, and design documents
  • Ensuring version releases with 0 critical bugs
  • Looking for ways to increase the automation ratio as much as possible while performing manual tests for scenarios that are not yet automated
  • Collaborating and working closely with Product Managers, Developers, and Designers to share bug reports, ensure business requirements are met, and increase code and automated test coverage
  • Tracking and measuring quality metrics to take any necessary corrective actions proactively to achieve the best possible quality
  • Evaluating, building, and improving the roadmap and infrastructure of the overall QA strategy and testing cycle for the end-products, making recommendations as necessary
  • Helping to build and grow a strong and dedicated QA Guild

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with SCRUM and other agile methods
  • Prior work experience in telecommunications
  • Graduate degree in a related field
  • Knowledge of eSIM and GSMA-related technologies and services
  • Experience in performance testing with tools like Apache JMeter, Gatling, etc
