Summary
Join Turnitin's Revenue Accounting team as a Senior Revenue Accountant and play a critical role in ensuring accurate and compliant revenue recognition. You will review customer contracts, perform revenue allocations, maintain revenue schedules, and support monthly and quarterly closes. This position requires collaboration with various teams, including FP&A, Commercial Finance, Sales Ops, Legal, AR, and External Auditors. You will also help build scalable processes as the business grows globally. The ideal candidate possesses a strong technical foundation in revenue recognition, excellent attention to detail, and effective communication skills. This role directly contributes to team objectives around timely and accurate month-end close, improved contract review turnaround times, ASC 606 compliance, and system and process enhancements.
Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; ACCA/CIMA qualified or progress toward certification strongly preferred
- 3β5 years of relevant experience, ideally in SaaS revenue accounting or public accounting with a focus on ASC 606 desirable not but not essential
- Proficiency with ERP and revenue tools (e.g., NetSuite, Salesforce, CPQ)
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A collaborative mindset and willingness to support both strategic and hands-on work
Responsibilities
- Review and interpret customer contracts to ensure accurate revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and deferred revenue schedules as part of the monthly close process
- Collaborate with the Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting on key initiatives and cross-functional projects to support business growth and compliance
- Partner with Sales, FP&A, and Deal Desk teams to resolve contract or billing-related revenue issues and advise on revenue treatment
- Help identify and drive process improvements and automation across the quote-to-cash cycle, including tools like Salesforce CPQ and NetSuite
- Support external audit requirements by preparing revenue reports, schedules, and supporting documentation
- Serve as a mentor and technical resource to junior team members within the revenue and billing functions
- Stay informed on emerging GAAP and ASC 606 guidance and assist in updating internal policies and procedures
- Conduct ad hoc analyses related to billing, revenue performance, and financial reporting
