Summary
Join Vesta, a climate startup, as a Geochemist (Communication, Policy, and Engagement). This remote position focuses on analyzing and communicating geochemical data to diverse audiences, including scientists, regulators, and the public. You will contribute to multiple projects, requiring strong analytical and communication skills. Experience with near-shore marine systems and porewater data is a plus. The role involves data analysis, interpretation, scientific writing, and stakeholder engagement. Occasional travel may be required. Requirements
- Hold a Ph.D. in geochemistry, oceanography, or a related field
- Demonstrate extensive and prolific scientific writing experience
- Demonstrate a track record of communicating complicated scientific concepts to non-technical audiences such as community members, regulators, policy-makers and funders or investors
- Demonstrate experience in data analysis and high-quality figure preparation
- Demonstrate experience in aqueous geochemistry and marine carbonate chemistry
- Possess excellent organizational skills, the ability to meet deadlines, and work independently
- Have a strong command of the English language, both written and oral
Responsibilities
- Engage with scientific stakeholders, policymakers, funders, regulators, and the general public regarding education, permitting, and scientific advancements in CCC
- Conduct geochemical data analysis
- Interpret and synthesize results for internal and external purposes
- Produce prolific writing, communication, and outreach, including written reports, presentations, videos, social media, publications, and proposals
- Manage relationships with external collaborators and the data they generate
- Communicate scientific concepts and results to a wide range of audiences
Preferred Qualifications
- Have experience managing social media, video editing, and advanced graphic arts skills
- Have journalism experience with lay or scientific audiences
- Have experience with software and programming languages
- Have field and laboratory geochemistry/oceanography experience
- Demonstrate a track record of external funding from philanthropic and public sources
