Social Media Producer

Summary

Blavity Inc. is looking for a Social Media Producer to support daily content development and programming. This role will report directly to the Social Media Managing Editor, Blavity. The ideal candidate has strong skills in short form social video editing, scripting, and a passion for Black culture and news. This is a fully remote role with an hourly rate of $25 - $30/hr depending on experience.

Requirements

• B.A. in Journalism or related field
• 2+ yrs of content creation production experience
• Strong knowledge of video editing for social platforms
• Experience with analytics and listening tools
• A demonstrated ability to write engaging social media copy across a range of topics, and for a variety of audiences

Responsibilities

• Partner with senior leadership on content initiatives, social strategy, operations, and research/analysis
• Own end-to-end production of daily content and programming
• Identify news pegs and opportunities to re-promote archival stories
• Build effective relationships with colleagues throughout the Blavity organization to support synergy across company’s Owned & Operated brands
• Collaborate with the Audience Development and Data Analytics teams to maximize story and post reach and ensure the brand is meeting site-wide growth goals
• Support the team with planning and project management for content initiatives, including the annual AfroTech Conference and other forthcoming team tentpoles

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of design elements and principles
• 2+ yrs of content development for Gen Z and Millennial demographics
