Software Engineer

Summary

Join xAI as a Software Engineer on the Human Data team, responsible for improving frontier AI model capabilities and working closely with technical staff to identify blindspots and design strategies to resolve them. This position offers the flexibility of being either remote or in-office.

Requirements

• Advanced proficiency in English, both verbal and written
• Knowledge in at least one of Python, Rust, JavaScript, C/C++, Java, Go, with a solid foundation in software development practices
• Strong grasp of computer science fundamentals
• Available to work evenings and weekends, as the schedule varies depending on team operational needs; flexibility is required

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain and take ownership of codebases written in Python, Rust, JavaScript, C/C++, Java and Go
• Evaluate and refine AI-generated code, ensuring it adheres to industry standards for efficiency, scalability, and reliability
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate and refine AI-generated code

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 years of hands-on industry experience with a proven track record in software development and working with large code bases
• A high reputation on platforms like Stack Overflow
• Evidence of meaningful contributions to open source projects
• Evidence of strong performance in programming competitions, eg. a high rating on Codeforces, or success in the ICPC
• The ideal candidate for this role is adaptable, possesses strong logical reasoning skills applicable to various scenarios, is detail-oriented and thrives in a fast-paced work environment
• Extensive experience with a wide array of tools and systems such as databases, SQL, Kubernetes, Spark, Kafka, gRPC, AWS, etc
