Software Engineering Teaching Assistant

Summary

Join SEO as a Software Engineering Teaching Assistant for a 7-week summer program! This part-time, remote position based in NYC supports the SEO Tech Developer program, working with the lead instructor to implement curriculum on an interactive learning platform. You will ensure students are prepared for tech careers and collaborate on program effectiveness assessments. The ideal candidate possesses experience in facilitating meetings, delivering training, and mentorship, along with strong communication and leadership skills. Proficiency in Python and experience working with APIs and libraries are required. The position offers a competitive salary of $11,900 for the summer.

Requirements

• Experiences ranging from facilitating meetings to delivering training or instruction to mentorship
• A track record of developing and maintaining strong working relationships with and among a diverse group of distributed stakeholders
• Proficiency in the languages in our tech stack below
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Strong Python skills
• Comfort working with various APIs and libraries

Responsibilities

• Support the teaching of the newly launched SEO Tech Developer program
• Work with the lead instructor to implement the curriculum provided on our interactive learning platform
• Ensure students are prepared to launch successful careers in the tech industry
• Collaborate with other program stakeholders to continuously assess and address program effectiveness

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience as a software developer or similar industry role
• Experience working on a technical instruction team
• Basic command line/bash
• Basic version control (Git/Github)
• Basic familiarity of web technologies (HTML/CSS)
• Basic familiarity with data manipulation/analysis
• Basic understanding of the social impacts of technology
