Summary

Join Autism Speaks as an Events Intern for a 10โ€“12-week remote program this Fall semester. This is a valuable opportunity to gain event planning experience within the development team, assisting with the planning and execution of Southern CA Area events, including Empower Walk & 5K Runs and other special events. The intern will develop key event skills such as creating timelines, planning processes, and community outreach. The position reports to the Area Executive Director and requires a commitment to a flexible 20-hour workweek during standard business hours. Applicants must be pursuing a bachelorโ€™s degree, eligible for academic credit, live in California, and possess strong organizational and communication skills. The internship offers practical experience in non-profit special events.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelorโ€™s degree
  • Able to receive class credit
  • Commitment to a flexible work schedule of 20 hours per week during standard business hours
  • Superior organizational and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to take initiative
  • Excellent customer service skills in dealing with internal and external constituents
  • Must have the ability to work with a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and social media technology
  • This is a remote position, but applicant must live in California

Responsibilities

  • Assist with event logistics for events across California
  • Assist in donor, sponsor, prospect, and volunteer outreach and stewardship
  • Assist with school outreach
  • Assist with Area marketing and communications, including email and social media content
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
  • Assist with managing outreach for in-kind donations of gift cards and experiences
