Staff Accountant

Summary

Join Sonatus, a fast-growing company in the automotive software industry, as a Junior/Intermediate Accountant. You will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy of financial records and compliance with accounting standards. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will have 5-8 years of accounting experience, preferably in a startup or technology company, and a bachelor's degree in a related field. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to various financial processes, including financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, accounts payable and receivable, and audit support. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and contribute to the company's overall financial success.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 5-8 years of accounting experience, preferably in a startup, technology company, or dynamic environment
• Basic knowledge of US GAAP
• Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central) and Microsoft Excel
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative mindset

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
• Support balance sheet and income statement flux analysis during the close process
• Maintain accurate general ledger entries and perform regular account reconciliations, including bank accounts and prepaid expenses
• Process AP and AR transactions, ensuring accurate invoicing, timely payments, and collections
• Assist with documentation and support for internal and external audits
• Contribute to the implementation of control procedures and compliance efforts
• Assist with monthly expense accrual calculations for goods and services received but not yet invoiced
• Support the month-end close process, including reconciliations, intercompany transactions, and updates to financial statements
• Work with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth day-to-day financial operations
• Contribute to various projects as assigned by the finance team

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA or equivalent certification
• Experience with internal control best practices
• Experience creating accounting memos and process documentation
• Experience implementing and improving business processes and systems
• Experience with large-scale ERP systems
• Public accounting, software, and/or SaaS industry experience
• Ability to adapt to changing responsibilities and priorities in a dynamic environment
• Collaborative team player able to work with cross-functional teams
• Eagerness to learn and tackle challenges in a rapidly growing and dynamic environment
