Join Squishable's growing Finance team as a Staff Accountant! This hands-on role involves overseeing daily accounting operations, leading monthly close processes, managing vendor relationships, preparing financial schedules, supporting cash flow forecasting, handling international subsidiary accounting, and collaborating cross-functionally. You will ensure accuracy and timeliness in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes. The ideal candidate possesses strong accounting principles understanding, experience with international subsidiaries and foreign exchange, and thrives in a dynamic environment. This is a remote or hybrid position based in Washington, DC, or New York City, requiring 3 days per week in-office if hybrid.
Requirements
- Bachelorβs Degree in Accounting or related field required
- Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with demonstrated ownership of core accounting functions
- Strong working knowledge of NetSuite or comparable ERP systems required
- Intermediate Excel and G Suite proficiency
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail
- Ability to manage competing deadlines and work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including AP, AR, payroll, and third-party entries, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of discrepancies
- Lead monthly close processes, prepare journal entries, and reconcile balance sheet accounts, including accruals, payroll liabilities, and credit cards
- Manage vendor relationships, rent, and utility across all locations; coordinate financial aspects of store openings and closures
- Prepare and maintain financial schedules, support internal reporting, external audits, and ensure timely filing of sales tax returns across jurisdictions
- Support cash flow forecasting and variance analysis by monitoring liabilities, receipts, and operational trends
- Handle accounting for international subsidiaries, manage intercompany transactions, foreign currency reconciliations, and ensure compliance with transfer pricing and local requirements
- Collaborate cross-functionally to improve financial processes, respond to internal inquiries, and support ad hoc reporting and audit needs
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with foreign exchange and international accounting preferred
- Experience in retail, inventory management, logistics, or warehouse environments preferred
