Summary
Join World Investment Advisors as a Staff Accountant and contribute to the day-to-day management of revenue accounting cycles. You will oversee revenue recognition entries and associated assets and liabilities, working with the accounting team to ensure timely and accurate month-end close processes. Responsibilities include managing accounts payable, credit card and employee reimbursements, reviewing invoices, posting payments, and reconciling bank accounts. You will also manage a portion of revenue recognition, accounts receivable, and client accounts, assisting with special projects as needed. The ideal candidate possesses a Bachelor's degree in accounting, at least 3 years of accounting experience within the financial services industry, and exceptional attention to detail. Remote work opportunities are available.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or a Bachelor’s degree in business with emphasis in accounting, is required
- Degree(s) must be from a credible college or university
- Must be extraordinarily detailed oriented
- Must be highly skilled in use of Excel Spreadsheets
- Must be skilled in use of MS Word and must be a very good writer in order to handle the occasional administrative needs of the department
- Must have very good communication skills
- Must have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressures
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting is required
- Experience within the financial services industry is required
Responsibilities
- Oversee all activities involved in maintaining revenue recognition entries and associated assets and liabilities
- Ensure that all accounting activities are recorded timely and accurately
- Manage the daily/monthly activities for accounts payable, credit card and employee reimbursements, including proper coding and tracking of subsidiary expense and appropriate approval workflow
- Review accuracy of accounts payable invoices prepared for payment
- Post payments within our payment processing software, locate and file appropriate backup documentation
- Respond to client and vendor requests, resolve discrepancies
- Respond to internal advisor requests with timelines and accuracy. Resolve questions and discrepancies
- Reconcile bank accounts and verify coding and backup of deposits
- Manage a portion of revenue recognition, accounts receivable collections and client accounts
- Assist in the monthly close process including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger transactions
- Prepare asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information
- Assist management with special projects and ad-hoc requests, as needed
- Maintain knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures
- Be an integral part of the accounting team!
- Participate in the month-end close process, expand and improve policies and procedures for monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Support Salesforce, Tamarac, and NetSuite financial system integration and enhancement projects, as required
- Resolve questions where possible or submit to another team member for escalation as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- NetSuite experience is strongly preferred
- Software familiarity with Salesforce, Boomi, Ramp or Tamarac is a plus
- Strong accounting background (Don’t be green. This is a detailed oriented and fast paced position)
- 10 out of 10 on team spirit required!
- Self-starter who can manage multiple deadlines and run point on new projects
- Someone who cannot let the details go unnoticed
