Staff Accountant

Summary

The ideal candidate possesses a Bachelor's degree in accounting (CPA or CPA Candidate preferred), 1-3 years of relevant experience, and proficiency in U.S. GAAP and Microsoft Excel. Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in accounting
• 1 to 3 years of relevant accounting experience (public or private)
• Intermediate knowledge of U.S. GAAP Experience or exposure to various areas of accounting including but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash/revenue, fixed assets, accruals, reserves, inventory valuation, and intercompany eliminations
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment and processing financial transactions using an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system and/or accounting software
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, etc.); experience within overall Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
• Self-starter that places an emphasis on accuracy, completeness, and work product ownership, with the ability to prioritize and complete tasks with competing deadlines
• Professional written and verbal communication with multiple levels and departments
• Team player with a proactive and problem-solving mindset

Responsibilities

• Assists the BU Controller in driving the Month-End Close process for multiple entities.  Participates in daily accounting department tasks.  Prepares and/or reviews appropriate journal entries and accruals
• Ensures completeness and accuracy of all assigned accounts, databases, and files, including the completion and review of monthly balance sheet reconciliations and income statement accounts
• Collaborates with the accounting team, and other internal departments to design, document, implement, and monitor processes that establish controls, ownership, and accountability of involved parties related to inventory management
• Works closely with accounts payable department, the purchasing department, and inventory management stakeholders concerning receiving issues, and the implementation of systems affecting inventory processing
• Performs ad hoc analysis and projects as requested.  Responds timely to inquiries from external and internal stakeholders
• Work closely with the accounting, financial reporting, FP&A, external auditors, and tax accountants during quarter and year end close to support financial reporting & regulatory requirements and provide financial commentary and supporting schedules as requested
• Provide support and training to accounting peers and other team leaders

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA or CPA Candidate preferred
• Manufacturing and/or Retail experience preferred
• Understanding of the principles of inventory manufacturing processes, retail sales processes, sales and use tax, and public company audit compliance, preferred
