Summary

The Staff Backend Engineer position at Tava Health is a mission-driven role focused on improving emotional healthcare through technology-enabled care. The employee will be responsible for building and managing backend systems, APIs, and integrations to support applications, improving code, data model, infrastructure, and documentation.

Requirements

• Ability to move fast and work through ambiguity in a startup environment
• Effective collaboration with frontend engineers, product managers, data scientists, behavioral health specialists, and others
• Willingness to learn new technologies and processes that may be out of your comfort zone
• Empathy for everyone you affect: clients, therapists, partners, and coworkers
• Proactive and consistent improvement of the security and reliability of our systems
• Clear and efficient technical writing and thought to communicate complex ideas
• A bachelor’s degree in computer science or the equivalent with roughly 7 years of backend experience

Responsibilities

• Build and manage core backend systems to support applications, integrations, and partnerships
• Evangelize for and improve upon best practices for code, data model, infrastructure, and documentation
• Build and manage APIs to support client, therapist, and administrative applications
• Build and manage 3rd party integrations
• Infuse all of your work with empathy, security, and quality to produce high-quality experiences

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of Node, GraphQL, Typescript, PostgreSQL, and AWS
