Summary

The job is for a Senior/Staff DevOps Engineer at BrightAI, a high-growth company specializing in AI, IoT, Cloud, and Mobile. The role involves building next-generation clouds and applications using AWS, Kafka, Cloud Native, Containers, Terraform, CI/CD, AI, and ML. The ideal candidate has 4+ years of experience with software languages, AWS services, containerization platforms, configuration management tools, networking, and Agile environment.

Requirements

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
  • 4+ years of experience with software languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Kotlin, Java, Node.js, Go
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud infrastructure and AWS services: Lambda, ELB, ALB, S3, EC2, VPC, CloudFormation, Route53, ECS, RDS, Postgres, DocumentDB
  • Experience with containerization platforms such as Kubernetes and Docker
  • Experience with configuration management and infrastructure as code tools: Ansible, Terraform, Chef, Puppet, CloudFormation
  • Experience with high availability deployment across many regions and availability zones
  • Experience with multiple AWS accounts
  • Experience with SumoLogic or similar tools for reporting and alerts
  • Experience with Linux and shell scripting
  • Extensive networking experience
  • Experience setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipeline tooling
  • Familiarity with virtualization tools like Vagrant or VirtualBox
  • Experience working within an Agile environment
  • Familiarity with leveraging reserved instances
  • Experience with AWS Cost Explorer and managing usage

Responsibilities

  • Build tools, processes, and support systems that enable teams to self-manage in an owner-operator model
  • Establish and support best practices and patterns for infrastructure as code within teams
  • Manage and support engineering teams in releasing their software
  • Collaborate with cloud engineers to define repeatable processes and patterns for supporting services in a production environment
  • Stay abreast of the latest cloud trends and topics
  • Prototype unproven concepts to inform final implementations
  • Automate everything possible, leveraging CI/CD to automate repeatable tasks and quality checks
  • Manage multiple AWS accounts and provide unified operational support
  • Build common dashboards, monitoring, and alerts used by the business

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud development using JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python
  • Experience growing large teams and understanding the issues that arise with growth
  • Previous startup experience
  • Experience operating and monitoring large Kafka clusters
