Summary
Join our team as a Systems Architect β Virtualization & Migration Consultant for a short-term consulting role! This 100% remote (within the US) position requires deep expertise in virtualization, Hyper-V, VMware, and migration strategies. You will assess, scope, and design a comprehensive migration strategy from VMware to Hyper-V. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in enterprise infrastructure, virtualization technologies, and large-scale migration projects. Occasional travel may be required for on-site assessments and meetings. This is a short-term consulting opportunity.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, virtualization architecture, and enterprise system design
- Extensive expertise in VMware (vSphere 6.x/7.x) and Microsoft Hyper-V environments
- Proven experience leading large-scale VMware-to-Hyper-V migration projects
- Strong knowledge of server infrastructure, networking, storage, and disaster recovery strategies
- Ability to develop detailed migration plans, risk assessments, and execution strategies
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and technical documentation skills
Responsibilities
- Assess and evaluate the current VMware environment, identifying dependencies, risks, and challenges for migration
- Architect a detailed migration roadmap from VMware to Hyper-V, considering scalability, security, and performance optimization
- Provide expert recommendations on architecture, configurations, and best practices for Hyper-V implementation
- Work closely with IT teams, engineers, and leadership to align the migration strategy with business goals
- Deliver a comprehensive migration plan, technical documentation, and risk mitigation strategies
- Be open to occasional travel for on-site assessments, stakeholder meetings, or implementation support
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Azure, hybrid cloud, or other virtualization platforms
- Familiarity with NetApp storage and Cisco UCS infrastructure
- Certifications such as VMware VCP, Microsoft MCSE (Core Infrastructure), or related credentials
