Join our growing team as a detail-oriented Tax Accountant specializing in high-volume preparation of individual, partnership, and S-Corp tax returns. This hands-on role requires proficiency in preparing 1040, 1065, and 1120S returns, along with managing client financial information and performing bookkeeping entries. You will analyze client documents, reconcile financial records, and ensure compliance with tax laws. The ideal candidate enjoys tax return preparation, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and can manage a high volume of work accurately and efficiently. This is not a review role; we seek a preparer who can independently handle the entire process from start to finish. Requirements
- 3+ years of tax preparation experience with individuals, partnerships, and S Corporations
- Strong understanding of tax law and accounting principles related to small businesses and individuals
- Proficiency with tax preparation software (e.g., Lacerte, ProSeries, UltraTax, Drake, or similar)
- Ability to manage and prioritize a high volume of tax returns with attention to detail
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Responsibilities
- Prepare federal and state income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and S Corporations
- Input client financial data and perform necessary bookkeeping entries to generate accurate trial balances and financials for tax purposes
- Analyze client-provided documents (bank statements, income/expense summaries, etc.) and determine appropriate tax treatment
- Reconcile financial records and ensure accuracy before tax preparation
- Ensure compliance with current tax laws and regulations
- Work with team members and clients to resolve outstanding questions or missing information
- Maintain detailed workpapers and documentation for all returns prepared
- Manage workload efficiently to meet internal deadlines during peak tax seasons
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with QuickBooks or similar bookkeeping software is a plus
- CPA or EA preferred, but not required
- Self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision
- Enjoys the technical, detail-oriented side of tax return preparation
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Willingness to roll up sleeves and "own" the preparation process from start to finish
