Summary

Join VetsEZ as a remote Technical Writer to contribute to a Department of Veterans Affairs project. You will leverage your technical background to create high-quality documentation, translating complex data integration and analysis concepts into user-friendly materials. Responsibilities include creating and editing IT-related documentation, collaborating with data scientists, managing communications on SDLC releases, conducting research, and developing training materials. You will support SDLC phases by developing and maintaining key documents. The ideal candidate possesses a Bachelor's degree, 3+ years of technical writing experience in IT, and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools. Software development experience is also required. Additional qualifications, such as VA or Informatics experience, are beneficial.

Requirements

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in a relevant field (English, Journalism, Computer Science, etc.)
  • 3+ years of experience in technical writing in IT environments
  • Strong ability to translate technical requirements into clear documentation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Experience with Change Management and SDLC phases (functional, regression, performance testing)
  • Proven ability to create and maintain technical documents (e.g., code deployment, training guides)
  • Software development experience (hands-on or support role)

Responsibilities

  • Create, edit, and refine IT-related documentation (manuals, reports, specifications, and presentations) with clarity and consistency
  • Collaborate with Senior Data Scientists and Analysts to document data architecture, pipelines, and workflows
  • Develop and manage communications on SDLC releases, policy changes, and data integration initiatives
  • Conduct research and interviews with technical teams to ensure accurate, user-friendly documentation
  • Create training materials, user guides, and process documentation to enhance knowledge sharing
  • Support SDLC phases by developing and maintaining User Requirements, Functional Requirements, and Design Documents
  • Ensure documentation alignment with project goals, proposing improvements for clarity and usability

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with VA or Informatics Product Line is a plus
  • Background in Data Integration Modernizations, Secure Messaging, or Healthcare IT documentation preferred
  • Familiarity with Summit Data Platform (SDP), VA Profile, or military personnel data is beneficial
  • Ability to obtain a government clearance
