Underwriter - Fleet

Summary

Join Nirvana, a data-driven commercial insurance revolutionizer, as an Underwriter on the Fleet team. You will evaluate and price commercial auto policies, collaborating with the Business Development team, agents, and brokers. Leverage your insurance expertise to make sound underwriting decisions and build strong relationships. Contribute to building underwriting processes in a startup environment. Work with multiple accounts simultaneously and collaborate with Product and Engineering teams. This role requires a proven track record in transportation business and strong communication skills.

Requirements

• 3+ years of property/casualty underwriting experience in the Transportation space
• Proven track record of growing and maintaining a book of profitable transportation business
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to present to both small and large groups of customers and brokers
• Open to occasional travel focused on building relationships with key agencies and customers (<10%)
• Thorough critical thinker who isn’t afraid to make decisions
• Self-starter who independently seeks out opportunities to learn and succeed
• Bias-to-action - you’re not afraid to get your hands dirty and stretch yourself
• Owner mentality - take accountability for your actions and results
• Successfully able to work in high-growth and ambiguous start-up environments

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and price new and renewal commercial Transportation business (10+ units) using underwriting best practices coupled with modern tools and insights
• Work with multiple accounts simultaneously in a fast paced environment
• Work closely with key agency partners to achieve production and profitability goals
• Be a foundational driver of results
• Collaborate with the Product and Engineering groups on emerging segments and territories as we scale
