Summary

Join Watchmaker Genomics as their Vice President of Sales, North America! This full-time position, based in Boulder, CO (or remotely, with preference given to candidates near genomics hubs), requires 15+ years of relevant experience in selling next-generation sequencing technologies. You will lead a team of Regional Account Managers, develop and implement sales strategies, and drive sales growth across the company's genomics product portfolio. The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership, technical, and communication skills, along with a proven track record of exceeding sales targets. Requirements

  • Have at minimum a BS in molecular biology, biochemistry or a related discipline, with at least fifteen years of relevant sales experience selling next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies and/or other advanced genomics applications into high-throughput clinical sequencing labs, research hospitals, and Laboratory Developed Tests (LDTs)
  • Possess a proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets
  • Be comfortable with NGS applications with sufficient technical acumen to sell cutting edge molecular biology products
  • Possess exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to quickly build rapport and earn trust
  • Possess incisive interrogation skills with outstanding attention to detail to uncover specific client pain points and needs around which to position a solution
  • Possess a proactive mindset and the ability to work independently as well as thrive in a team environment
  • Be flexible in nature to accommodate a fast-growing product portfolio and change
  • Be adept at identifying market opportunities in highly technical and evolving applications
  • Be skilled at maintaining control of the sales process, communicating well-developed value propositions, identifying and eliminating objections early, and closing business
  • Possess excellent organizational, task management, and prioritization skills with outstanding attention to detail
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Be fully competent in Google Suite, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and CRM systems. Able to learn and build in-depth knowledge of new technology tools
  • Have a Bachelor's degree
  • Have a minimum 10-15 years genomics or life science tools industry experience
  • Have a minimum of 5 years of managing direct sales force teams

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement effective direct sales strategies and lead nationwide direct sales personnel towards achievement of corporate sales objectives
  • Develop competencies and processes required to create an effective and efficient sales organization
  • Establish a highly innovative and efficient national sales program
  • Build upon a culture of collaboration, lead a team of sales professionals (inside sales, regional account managers, and directors of strategic accounts) providing performance management and support of development through coaching and mentoring
  • Track and drive sales activity metrics to meet company standards; Achieve quarterly and annual regional sales goals by driving and supporting the team in their efforts for the development, maintenance, and enhancement of customer accounts
  • Support RAMs in their evaluation of all accounts within their assigned regions to identify key growth opportunities to inform the development of an effective territory business plan and strategy
  • Identify, prioritize, and map key accounts to build a thorough understanding of the buying process and identify key decision makers to maximize close rate and revenue growth
  • Partner with the KOLs (Key Opinion Leaders) and Strategic Accounts in the development of key customer relationship management
  • Build and maintain relationships to identify and investigate pain points and develop strategies to position Watchmaker solutions to address prospects short and long term business needs
  • Consistently deliver on commitments to customers through prompt and comprehensive respond to inquiries, requests for samples, RFPs, and other follow up actions
  • Leverage CRM to drive a disciplined sales process, including prospecting, needs analysis, solution development, closing plan, and account management and defense
  • Prepare/ manage forecast of regional revenue and business growth for planning purposes
  • Develop and maintain a robust opportunity pipeline and forecast to drive aggressive revenue expansion, routinely communicate revenue and demand forecasts
  • Communicate customer requirements promptly and clearly to internal teams to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction
  • Establish effective relationships and collaborations with other departments (Finance, Technical Support, Marketing, HR, etc.) to address key business issues and opportunities
  • Contribute strategic vision on expansion of Watchmaker’s product offerings and proactively identify changes in Genomics industry, delivery systems, and competitive pressures to develop and modify strategies and tactics accordingly
  • Participate in customer collaborations and product support
  • Identify opportunities for internal process improvement
  • Travel to customer sites for meetings, exhibitions, and networking

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have a Master's degree
  • Possess broad technical knowledge of DNA- and RNA-modifying enzymes
  • Be a local candidate in a Genomics HUB (San Fran, Boston, NYC, DC, Houston, San Diego, etc.)
