Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, a related field, or equivalent education and work experience
  • Certification(s) within at least one delivery methodology or framework such as Agile, SAFe, PMI Standards, etc
  • Typically, 12+ years with bachelor’s or equivalent in program and portfolio management within information technology, fintech, or financial service industry
  • 10+ years in leadership role with responsibilities across major projects and programs
  • Direct SAFe Portfolio Management implementation experience
  • Experienced in transformational initiatives within complex banking environments using Organizational Change Management (OCM) techniques in combination with agile program delivery and strategic portfolio management
  • Hands-on experience establishing strategic execution functions to drive innovation and adopt emerging capabilities to enhance customer value creation and revenue generation
  • Experience with planning tools such as Service Now Portfolio Management or Atlassian
  • Demonstrated leadership leading diverse teams
  • The ability to engage and collaborate across all levels within an organization including senior executive interface
  • Excellent analytical, strategic planning, and execution skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate program objectives, inspire and motivate staff, and maintain alignment with the business strategy
  • High degree of political sensitivity and the ability to influence others to overcome obstacles and achieve program success

Responsibilities

  • Manage and transform enterprise portfolio projects, programs, and structured work efforts
  • Collaborate with the business portfolio to ensure IT portfolio alignment
  • Oversee enterprise portfolio governance and facilitation of community of practice and manage the project portfolio for shared services and information technology projects
  • Oversee and manage the entire life cycle of investments and initiatives to achieve the organization’s goals and objectives
  • Act as a primary resource for the investment council, steering committee, and senior executives for communications and reporting the state and performance of initiatives within the portfolio
  • Ensure the intake process, prioritization, and investment decisions align with customer and business objectives
  • Provide and escalate data on achieving an optimized mix among project investments, making the best possible use of all resources and delivering the maximum value and benefits from projects and programs within the portfolio
  • Create an adaptive culture to ensure that resources can support changing customer needs
  • Track key performance indicators based on customer expectations
  • Put benefit realization in place, including continuous feedback to future prioritization decisions and business case assumptions
  • Ensure adherence to the appropriate governance functions related to the portfolio on behalf of the enterprise portfolio management objectives and in accordance with the organization’s guidelines, policies, and practices
  • Direct the development and maintenance of communications and reporting regarding project portfolios, their contents, and the performance of individual initiatives to stakeholders and governance council(s), the steering committee, and senior executives
  • Oversee and manage dependencies across the initiatives in the portfolio and resolve conflicts
  • Evaluate and balance the availability of the required skills and competencies across project and program teams within the project portfolio, as mandated and resourced by leadership
  • Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Financial industry regulatory experience (FDIC, OCC, SOC, SOX, etc.) preferred
