Join the AI Education Project (aiEDU), a growing non-profit, as their Vice President of Finance & Operations. This senior leadership role focuses on financial strategy, budgeting, planning, and funder reporting, while also overseeing core internal functions. Requirements
- 8–10+ years of experience in nonprofit finance, operations, or cross-functional leadership roles
- Deep experience in nonprofit finance , including budgeting, scenario planning, and funder reporting
- Familiarity with nonprofit finance structures and grant compliance
- Experience partnering with development and program leads on financial planning and sustainability
- Experience managing HR systems, personnel policies, and team leads
- Comfort managing legal and operational processes through external vendors
- Clear communicator who can translate complex financial topics for internal and external audiences
- Organized, collaborative, and pragmatic—strong judgment and ability to execute
Responsibilities
- Lead financial strategy, including long-range planning, scenario modeling, and cash flow analysis
- Guide annual budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with the Finance lead, CEO and team leads
- Supervise the Finance/Admin Lead , who manages day-to-day accounting, reporting, and expense tracking
- Partner with the Director of Development to align financial planning with grant strategy and revenue pipelines
- Serve as lead liaison to the board on finance matters; prepare materials and support finance committee meetings
- Oversee relationships with external accounting, audit, and bookkeeping vendors
- Ensure timely, accurate reporting for internal leadership and external stakeholders, including funders
- Supervise the Director of People , who manages hiring, onboarding, employee relations, and benefits
- Oversee organizational HR systems and tools (e.g., payroll, benefits, compliance)
- Ensure HR policies, handbooks, and processes reflect aiEDU’s values and support a strong remote-first culture
- Oversee key internal systems related to contracting, compliance tracking, and knowledge management
- Supervise administrative support staff, including the EA and Finance/Ops Lead
- Ensure vendor management and operational infrastructure are aligned with team needs
- Manage external legal vendors, including a fractional General Counsel or law firm
- Oversee contracting, compliance, and data privacy systems; ensure organizational policies, documentation standards, and regulatory requirements are maintained
- Provide guidance on organizational risk and liability, including cybersecurity, insurance, and compliance matters
- Manage and mentor a team including the Finance/Admin Lead, Director of People, and administrative staff
- Support cross-functional coordination with Programs, Policy, Partnerships, and Comms teams
- Play a key leadership role in cultivating and sustaining a team culture that is inclusive, mission-driven, and aligned with organizational values
