Summary

Join Fortitude Re, a leading provider of legacy reinsurance solutions, as their VP, Investment Accounting Operations. You will lead and mentor a team of investment accounting professionals, overseeing all investment transaction recording processes. This role requires strong investment accounting knowledge, experience with US GAAP and SOX compliance, and the ability to manage complex situations. You will be the primary liaison with the investment accounting platform vendor and work closely with various internal teams. Requirements

  • Bachelorโ€™s or Graduate degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics with CPA or equivalent accounting certification
  • Minimum 10+ years accounting experience, with 5 or more years of investment accounting experience with an insurance/reinsurance with BIG 4 background
  • Public company SOX controls experience
  • Technical knowledge of investment products including but not limited to Fixed Income, Mortgages, ABS, Private Credit, Private Equity and Derivatives
  • Experience managing and developing a team of investment accounting professionals with the ability to build and develop high-performing teams while fostering a collaborative culture
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage deadlines while maintaining strict attention to detail
  • Demonstrates strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrates ability to identify and recommend process improvements
  • Capable of communicating and expressing ideas clearly and concisely, in both written and verbal formats
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, with strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to build and maintain working relationships with internal and external asset managers, accounting, compliance, actuarial, management, and systems personnel from junior staff to executive level

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of investment accounting professionals responsible for investment accounting operations
  • Own the working relationship with the primary investment accounting system provider. Understand the system including setup, transaction processing and reconciliation, and the connections to the companyโ€™s general ledger
  • Chair the interdepartmental weekly status meeting on Investment transactions
  • Oversee monthly close process ensuring pricing and transaction processing is complete
  • Liaise with internal Investment Operations team on investment inquiries. Monitor all issues logged to Investment Operations, Asset Managers and Treasury teams
  • Assist the Investment Accounting and Investment Operations team subject matter experts on issue resolution
  • Support the Investment Accounting Financial Reporting team as required
  • Oversee monthly asset transfer transactions and monitor the interdepartmental asset transfer meetings
  • Oversee and participate in new reinsurance transaction asset onboarding onto the Investment accounting platform
  • Facilitate and assist with external audits, related testing and the completion of audit work
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with investment reporting
  • Experience with Life, Annuities and Property Casualty lines of business
