Summary

The job is for a Vice President of Engineering role in a profitable B2B SaaS company based out of North America but remote from Canada, specifically the GTA/Toronto area. The successful candidate will lead engineering teams, oversee product development, technical operations, and team development, collaborate with other departments, and have a strong technical background.

Requirements

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in a senior engineering leadership role, preferably as a Director or VP of Engineering
  • Demonstrated success in leading and scaling engineering teams (ideally 25+ staff) in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience building or scaling a startup/tech company in the past (experience working in a company 50-500 headcount is ideal)
  • Strong technical background with expertise in software development and architecture. Our Tech stack is: Python, Flask, React, Typescript, AWS
  • Familiarity with modern development languages, frameworks, and technologies
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills
  • Track record of building and leading high-performance engineering teams
  • Ability to develop and execute a strategic vision for engineering aligned with business goals
  • Experience in aligning technical decisions with long-term business objectives
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Proven ability to analyze and solve complex technical challenges

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the engineering strategy aligned with the overall business goals
  • Provide leadership to multiple engineering teams and foster a collaborative and innovative culture
  • Drive technology innovation and ensure the development of scalable and high-performance software solutions
  • Oversee the end-to-end product development lifecycle, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery
  • Collaborate with product management to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Implement best practices for software development, coding standards, and quality assurance
  • Manage technical operations to ensure the reliability and scalability of systems
  • Implement and optimize infrastructure, security, and DevOps practices
  • Establish and maintain effective processes for monitoring, incident response, and system maintenance
  • Attract, hire, and retain top engineering talent
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to engineering managers and team members
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments, such as product management, sales, and marketing
  • Work closely with executives to align engineering strategies with overall company objectives
