Summary

Join KoBold Metals as their Web Developer and Designer, working directly with the CEO and CLO to maintain and improve the company website. You will design, develop, and maintain the website, collaborating with geologists and data scientists to translate complex information for a broad audience. This role requires proficiency in graphic design, web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP), and CMS experience. The position offers a dynamic environment in a growing startup, with the opportunity to contribute to KoBold's branding and storytelling. The role is fully remote, available to US and Canadian residents, and offers a competitive salary.

Requirements

  • Have proficiency in general graphic design principles, including user interfaces
  • Have at least 5 years experience in designing and developing websites from conceptualization to implementation using a CMS (e.g., WordPress, Shopify, HubSpot, or Ghost)
  • Have high proficiency with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP
  • Have high proficiency with either Figma or Adobe Illustrator for page mockups
  • Be comfortable with managing and organizing web content
  • Be able to work with frequent project pivots (self-starting autonomous culture)

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the company website is updated and maintained in a timely manner with new content, features, and bug fixes
  • Oversee the web content uploaded to the CMS by other KoBold members
  • Translate the KoBold mission and vision of the executive team into web pages, graphics, and language for a broad audience
  • Help to define and grow KoBold’s branding language into a cohesive, consistent message
  • Work with project team geologists and data scientists to understand and communicate the scientific and technical work to a broad range of audiences
  • Work closely with the KoBold Metals executive team to design concepts or features for the website
  • Design layouts in Figma or Adobe Illustrator and iterate with the team
  • Build web pages into a web framework that includes a CMS, utilizing HTML/CSS/JS/PHP
  • Maintain the security and functionality of our website autonomously (e.g., routine bug fixes)
  • Design graphics for various types of media (such as newsletters, posters, flyers, memos, and presentations)
  • Be immersed in KoBold’s scientific work in order to make meaningful contributions to KoBold’s branding language and storytelling

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have experience communicating scientific and technical content to a broad audience
  • Have experience with user experience research (UX) or spatial data (maps)
