Accountant

Summary

The job involves handling daily accounting functions, preparing monthly management accounts and financial statements, performing reconciliations, preparing statutory reports, assisting senior team members, monitoring internal controls, and helping auditors. The ideal candidate should be ACCA and/or B. Accty. (Hons) qualified or near completion of the ACCA qualification, have 2-3 years' experience in a similar position, strong analytical skills, knowledge of accounting principles, Maltese Tax and VAT legislation, proficiency in Microsoft Excel, excellent communication skills, ability to work independently and within a team, and comfort in a fast-paced international environment.

Requirements

• ACCA and/or B. Accty. (Hons) qualified or at the final stages of completing ACCA qualification
• 2 - 3 years’ experience in a similar position
• Excellent analytical acumen along with a strong ability to read numbers and figures
• Sound knowledge of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices
• Knowledge of Maltese Tax and VAT legislation
• Conversant with standard software packages, proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel
• Self-motivated with a determined approach to work
• Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken English
• Ability to work both independently and within a team and possessing strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet expected company deadlines
• Be comfortable in a fast-paced and international environment

Responsibilities

• Handling the daily accounting functions
• Updating data and processing payments as required
• Preparing monthly management accounts and financial statements
• Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements
• Performing reconciliations for data analysis, accuracy and validity
• Preparing statutory reports to both local and foreign authorities
• Assisting senior team members and participating in ad-hoc finance projects
• Monitoring and implementing internal controls
• Assisting auditors in performing their duties
• Performing any other tasks that may be assigned from time to time
