Requirements

  • 4-7+ years of accounting experience, ideally in a SaaS or tech environment
  • Experience with usage-based revenue models
  • Strong proficiency in Excel, with the ability to analyze large datasets
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and experience with revenue recognition practices, including ASC 606
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented, capable of managing complex projects independently, with external support
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to translate financial data into actionable insights for cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

  • Lead the transition from cash to accrual accounting: Oversee and execute this transition, working closely with external accounting contractors to ensure accurate revenue and expense recognition
  • Prepare and review financial statements: Deliver accurate monthly financial reports, including balance sheets, P&L statements, and cash flow statements
  • Support daily financial and accounting operations: Manage billing approvals, reimbursements, payables, payroll, and other key accounting processes to ensure smooth daily operations
  • Improve revenue recognition processes: Collaborate with finance and engineering teams to enhance billing statements, ensure proper revenue categorization, and streamline data for improved financial insights
  • Establish financial controls and processes: Implement best practices for internal controls, automating workflows, and integrating tools (e.g., Bill.com, Brex)
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work with teams across the company to ensure financial accuracy and support decision-making

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with billing systems and automation tools
  • Comfortable working in a lean, remote environment and building processes from the ground up
