Summary

Join Betterment's Controller team as an Accounting Operations Specialist and contribute to the financial health of the business. You will accurately process vendor invoices, Ramp credit card transactions, and manage the Accounting Ops ticket portal. Responsibilities include process improvement initiatives, month-end close activities, and ensuring compliance with company policies. This remote-eligible role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, familiarity with basic accounting principles, and strong attention to detail. Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Familiarity with basic accounting principles and procedures, with a desire to grow technical skills in a dynamic, hands-on environment
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, track outstanding tasks, and stay on top of timelines in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • A keen eye for spotting discrepancies, ensuring accuracy in data entry, and following through on open items
  • Confidently communicating policy updates to stakeholders across the organization
  • Willingness to take ownership of tasks, solve problems proactively, and contribute to process improvement efforts as the function evolves

Responsibilities

  • Accurately review, verify, and process high volumes of vendor invoices using internal systems, ensuring alignment with contract terms, company policies, and established accounting procedures
  • Process and code Ramp credit card transactions, ensuring accurate classification and policy compliance
  • Act as the first point of contact for the Accounting Ops ticket portal, triaging and resolving inbound requests related to the Accounting Ops systems
  • Participate in ongoing process improvement initiatives and special projects, including system implementations and automation enhancements
  • Contribute to month-end close activities, including preparing journal entry support, and reviewing AP related entries for completeness and accuracy

Preferred Qualifications

An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is a strong plus
